Antique woven back basket, from the Nghe Province in Laos, on the Vietnamese borderlands. Famous for their inticately woven basket work, this would have been used to carry goods to and from market. It has a wooden base frame to allow it to stand freely, has backstraps as well as head straps, the quality of the work is superb and the condition is good seeing as this dates from the early 1900's. Tribes could be identified from other tribes by their style of basket work.
