A tradition from 18th Century France was to arrange the bridal headpiece and souvenirs from the marriage on an elaborately decorated silk crown, dressed with mirrors and then placed inside a glass dome to protect the wedding day reminders through their lives.

This crown would once have been part of one if these. The crimson dyed silk as aged over time due to light and sun but the gilded metal leaves have survived as new virtually.
